BRIGHT NOW ARCHIVE

April 17, 2007

This weekend I met Joanna Rudnick, a young filmmaker from Chicago who is creating a documentary called "In the Family", for lunch. We had so much in common and shared a similar passion for educating young women about the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. "In the Family" is all about Joanna's personal experience of testing positive for the gene, as well as that of other women who guide her through her own experience. She addresses the legal, ethical, psychological and social complexities of genetic testing for a breast and ovarian cancer, which have no cure and for which the only proven preventative measures involve removing healthy body parts. Joanna is currently editing the film and will be sharing it at Sundance Film Festival next year. Check out the official site at: http://inthefamily.kartemquin.com/

Also, if you are in the Chicago area, we would love to have you join us on May 4 as we kick off the weekend right at HOT PINK, a fundraiser to benefit Bright Pink. More information can be found at EVENTS and as always, please feel free to email me directly at
Lindsay@BeBrightPink.org if you have any questions, suggestions, or want to get involved and Be Bright Pink:) Have a great day!

All the best

Lindsay
