BRIGHT NOW ARCHIVE
July 16, 2008
We hope that everyone is enjoying a Bright summer! There has been a lot of recent press suggesting that monthly Breast Self Exams are not necessary for all women, do not decrease death rates, and may increase the finding of benign lumps in turn, leading to unnecessary surgeries. While some women may choose not to check their breasts at a regimented time each month, we want to remind you that being proactive with your health includes being aware of the normal look and feel of their breasts. Any changes you notice should be reported to your doctors. Breast health awareness remains critical, since we know that early detection of breast cancer greatly improves a woman's odds of beating the disease.
For some women, a monthly Breast Self Exam can help them stay attuned to their bodies and recognize any changes that may occur through examining themselves at the same time each month. If you would like to sign up for our customized monthly Breast Self Exam E-Reminder, click here. You will also find a "How-To" on the page. Follow the directions and remember, nobody knows your body better than you do and the greatest responsibility for your health lies within your control.
All the best and brightest,
Lindsay
