The story profiles Dr. Lindner's journey in undergoing genetic testing and ultimately deciding to undergo a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. The piece openly and honestly addresses the complex decision making process and has provoked a national discussion on the issues surrounding young women who are at high risk for developing breast and ovarian cancer.
