WE ARE BRIGHT PINK
Davina
My devotion to breast cancer has been exercised through my involvement with young women in my community. I joined Teens for the Cure my senior year of high school, 2005, and have since become the groups president for two years, and am now the groups chair. The group recruits young girls from local high schools, teaches them about breast cancer prevention, awareness and treatment. They are then encouraged to give a presentation at their high schools so that they can reach even more young women. I deeply believe that breast cancer should not only be directed to the attention of women over 40. Awareness needs to begin at a young age so that hopefully detection will also happen earlier and save more lives. We need to do our part to empower and enable young women to take care of their lives and bodies right now so that they will continue to do so for the rest of their lives.
