WE ARE BRIGHT PINK
Megan
My mom was diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian cancer two years ago. As I know you understand, it was terrifying. My mom has been so strong and I am very proud to say she is a survivor. She has done so much to ensure a brighter future for my sister and I; including undergoing a year-long experimental chemo, as well as genetic testing. My mom, her sister and brother all tested positive for the BRCAII genetic mutation. Since then, many family members in my generation, including my brother and sister, have undergone the genetic testing. Very thankfully, each and every one has been negative. I am ashamed to say, however, that with every negative result that has come back, rather than feeling relief, dread overcomes me because I can't help but feel I will be positive.
I remember finding Be Bright Pink and just thinking thank god. In the moments I have felt most alone, spiteful, or frightened, your story and site has given me so much HOPE and inspiration. My mom has helped me do research into my options and when I do get the courage to be tested I will go with the feeling of support from all the brave Bright Pink girls.
