PATRICK BORGEN, M.D.
DIRECTOR OF BREAST SURGERY
MAIMONIDES HOSPITAL CANCER CENTER


Dr. Patrick Borgen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University. He earned his M.D. degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. This was followed by a Surgical Residency at the Ochsner Clinic and a two year Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In 1991 Dr. Borgen joined the faculty in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 1992 he was named head of the Breast Cancer Research Laboratory, and in 1994 he became the Chief Breast Surgeon at that institution. In 1997 he became a Member of Memorial Hospital. Dr. Borgen also has a faculty appointment as a Professor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical College in New York, and has a seat on the Executive Board of Directors of the American Society for the Study of Breast Diseases. His research interests have included the development of the therapies that conserve the breast, breast cancer in younger women, and breast cancer in males.
